Benefits
At Hertfordshire Constabulary we want to make sure all our
officers get the right balance between their work and home lives. So
we've brought together a great package of benefits, that will make life
more manageable, affordable, and most importantly, enjoyable.
Housing
Since Hertfordshire is an attractive area and desirable location to
live, the housing prices have been increasing steadily over the past
few years. So we've joined with Lea Valley Homes to offer a number of
initiatives that will make it easier for our officers to settle in the
area. You'll find more details of the properties and products available
at the Lea Valley Homes website.
Childcare and schooling
We also understand that providing quality childcare is a major
priority for many of our officers. So we've set up a scheme where you
can claim part of your salary in childcare vouchers which are exempt
from National Insurance contributions. The vouchers cover the whole
range of childcare services – from nannies and childminders to nursery
schools, playgroups and crèches.
Hertfordshire also has a good range of infant, primary, junior and
pre-preparatory schools for children aged 4 to 11 years old, as well as
excellent secondary schools. If your children are that bit older and
looking to attend a college in the area, there are four major colleges
– Oaklands College, North Hertfordshire College, West Herts College and
Hertford Regional College. There is also the University of
Hertfordshire, which offers over 400 degree and diploma courses spread
across four campuses in Hatfield, Hertford, Watford and St Albans.
Travel
Getting to and from work can be an expensive business. That's why
we've arranged a package of travel concessions, that'll help you travel
around the county when you are both on or off duty.
You'll also enjoy free travel on Transport for London bus services,
London Underground, DLR and Tramlink, as well as Silverlink County,
Arriva and selected First Capital Connect lines. Conditions apply.
